The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey has provided a loan of USD 341,270,000 equivalent to the World Bank to finance the expenses under the Turkey Climate Smart and Competitive Agricultural Growth Project (TUCSAP).
TUCSAP was prepared to strengthen the capacity for sustainable and competitive agricultural growth in Turkey’s agricultural sector and encourage using climate-smart approaches. Within the scope of certain sub-components, TUSCAP supports our sector by offering grants for the acquisition of smart farm machinery and technologies. The grant support also includes solid and liquid fertilizer distribution equipment for fertilizer management and conventional machinery such as stubble planting machines. The total grant budget is $43 million.
On the other hand, the “Rapid Assessment of the Current Status of Climate Smart Agriculture Technologies in Turkey Workshop” was held in Ankara on August 12-13, 2024, and approximately 80 people, including representatives from the relevant Ministry, the World Bank, financial institutions, farmer and research organizations, companies producing agricultural machinery and technologies, and academicians, attended the meeting.
Following the opening speeches of the General Director of Agricultural Reform Dr. Osman Yıldız, the Head of the Department of Agricultural Technologies and Mechanization Mustafa Gezici, TARMAKBİR Secretary General M. Selami İleri, and Önder Çiftçi Project Agricultural Advisor Raşit Yılmaz made presentations, and in the second part of the workshop, an exchange of ideas was held with the participants on some macro issues regarding the implementation legislation of the project with a focus on smart agriculture technologies, moderated by TARMAKBİR Secretary General M. Selami İleri and Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Machinery and Technologies Engineering Head Prof. Dr. Ahmet Çolak.
