The “Meeting on Increasing Agricultural Productivity under Scarce Water Resources through South-South and Tripartite Cooperation (SSTC)” was arranged on the occasion of the Konya Agricultural Fair held in Konya on 8-12 April 2025. The meeting was assembled in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) with the participation of the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey and invited ministers from African countries.
At the event, which was held with the participation of TARMAKBİR and attended by ministers, deputy ministers and other high-level participants from Kyrgyzstan, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Tanzania, Senegal and Mauritania, projects implemented within the framework of SSTC were discussed. The importance of cooperation, particularly in the use of R&D, innovation and technology, was emphasized on issues such as combating drought, depleting water resources and ensuring food security, which are common problems for all countries. It was explained that technical personnel and exchange of experience between countries could be made available.
Following the discussion between the countries’ technical delegations on “Enhancing the Use of Technologies and climate-resilient practices through projects and partnerships,” a “Memorandum of Understanding” was adopted to establish a Rural Development Network to enhance South-South and Tripartite Cooperation (SSTC) activities in the participating countries.
As part of the meeting, TARMAKBİR briefed the representatives of the host countries about the Turkish agricultural machinery industry with a presentation.
