Izmir Agricultural Technology Center (ITTM) is a project which aims at bringing together agriculture with technology under the leadership of the Izmir Commodity Exchange (ICE) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, İzmir Institute of Technology, Yaşar University, İzmir Chamber of Commerce, Aegean Region Chamber of Industry, Aegean Exporters’ Association, İzmir Chamber of Shipping and Izmir Union of tradespeople and Craftworkers Chambers with guidance from the Izmir Development Agency.
ITTM is an open innovation environment where products and services (smart practices) produced or to be produced using information technologies in agriculture can be tested and developed on real users and products in a real-life environment.
The application area of the center is located at the Ministry’s International Agricultural Research and Training Center in Menemen, where there are entrepreneurial areas, data collection and analysis lab, prototyping laboratory, monitoring facility in cultivated lands, and meeting rooms. The center also has a branch office in Konak.
A Technology Center (TEKMER) will be established within the center, and the most important difference of the TEKMER from others is that it offers application areas and infrastructure for smart agriculture. With its identity as a connection point of international ecosystems, the Center enables its companies to establish international connections and to share versatile knowledge, experience, and technology with all its stakeholders. The Center also acts as an intermediary to reach the investment capital that commercializable product and service ideas will need. TEKMER is a place where universities and SMEs come together to form a common platform in R&D studies under the coordination of KOSGEB. TEKMER offers advantages such as insurance premium support, revenue tax, income and corporate tax, customs tax exemption, R&D reduction income tax withholding incentive. Within the scope of KOSGEB, TEKMER Support Program, institutions or organizations are supported to establish a technology-based incubation center and to carry out remedial and development activities for entrepreneurs and start-ups.
